Writeback: Pilot testing continues

Testing with pilot districts is showing encouraging progress. Additional testing is underway to confirm that new writeback files correctly update information previously transferred into district systems.

Pilot districts will review results and next steps on October 30. A date for resuming production writeback has not yet been confirmed.

What districts should do: Continue your established procedures for entering and checking special education information in your student information system (SIS). You do not need to wait for writeback to resume to prepare required reporting.

November Special Education Child Count: Important dates

There are two important dates for the November Special Education Child Count and Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) reporting:

  • November 2, 2026 — Child count date. The count must reflect eligible students and their required information as of this date, the first business day in November.
  • December 16, 2026 — Reporting deadline. Districts must certify and submit their Child Count and LRE information to OSPI by this date.

Districts can review, correct, and verify their information after November 2, provided the final data accurately reflects the count date.

What districts should do: Continue preparing and checking your data using established SIS and CEDARS reporting procedures. If you find missing or incorrect information that could affect the count, notify your district reporting staff and use established support channels to address the issue.

For additional information regarding the Federal compliance reporting and timelines, please see OSPI’s Special Education Data Reporting and Collection guidelines.

Data Migration and Record Accuracy

Some districts have reported missing or incorrect information in records transferred from IEP Online 2.0 to 3.0, including historical information. PCG and WSIPC continue working with districts to identify and address these issues.

What districts should do: Report missing or incorrect records to PCG Customer Support. If a correction could affect historical student information, please request guidance before changing or recreating records.

System improvements: October 29 release

PCG has scheduled five fixes for release on October 29. These include a problem causing some Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) documents to appear blank, along with issues involving missing information, document formatting, and translations.

PCG expects to confirm on October 30 which fixes have passed testing in the live system.

A fix being released does not necessarily mean an issue is fully resolved. Changes must also be tested and confirmed to work as intended.

View the WA 3.0 Issue Tracker for reported issues, progress, and planned fixes.

District Advisory Groups: New meeting structure

The three district advisory groups focused on workflows and training, reporting and compliance, and user permissions are being combined into one group. This will help district representatives work together on issues affecting multiple parts of the system.

The next meeting is Friday, October 30, at 10 a.m.
