Webinar:
Advancing Advising Quality through the Washington Data Hub
Monday, November 2 | 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM PT | Virtual
Education organizations often struggle with siloed systems, delayed data, and tools that don’t reflect how work happens on the ground. These challenges are especially acute in high schools where student support spans multiple years, contexts, and outside partners.
This session shares how Elevate, a collective impact organization in rural Washington state, designed and implemented a low-cost advising data system grounded in principles of interoperability, usability, and equity. Rather than relying on expensive platforms, the team built a flexible system that integrates key advising data, reduces duplication, and provides real-time insights to support student success.
Participants will learn how the system:
- Was designed to collect and organize advising data.
- Uses Ed-Fi interoperability to roster students in the advising system and provide real-time updates on enrollment, attendance, course outcomes, and other indicators once it’s connected to the Operational Data Store (ODS).
- Supports real-time use of data for decision-making and intervention.
- Surfaces patterns in access, advising intensity, and outcomes across student groups.
In addition to the technical and design considerations, the presenters will share implementation lessons, including how the tracking system was built, how Elevate enhanced the system by linking it with the ODS for rostering, and how it is driving improvements in student outcomes.
