Cybersecurity Awareness Month Wrap-Up

Cybersecurity Awareness Month reminded us that cybersecurity isn’t just an IT issue, it’s an everyone issue. Schools hold valuable data and keeping it safe takes all of us working together.

Here’s what stood out this month:

  • MFA works. That extra login step is one of the simplest, most effective ways to stop attackers in their tracks.
  • New threats keep evolving, so vigilance is key. With attackers using increasingly sophisticated tactics, ongoing awareness training and strong security practices are key to protecting sensitive data.
  • People make the difference. Ongoing training, awareness, and quick reporting are as important as any firewall.
  • Backups save the day. Test them, secure them, and make sure they’re offsite and immutable.
  • Partnerships matter. Through WSIPC’s Purchasing Program, districts can access trusted solutions that strengthen cybersecurity and save resources.

Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility, and when we stay informed, proactive, and connected, we’re stronger together.
