New Reports Now Available to Support Compensated Absences Analysis!

From the Cooperative, for the Cooperative: Exciting News!

New reports are now available in Qmlativ and SMS to help districts analyze compensated absences and complete the OSPI Sick Leave Liability Tool.

These reports are designed with you in mind—making it easier to gather, review, and analyze your employee leave data. Together, we’re streamlining processes and supporting success through smarter data insights.

What’s Inside:

  • Report 1: Summarizes employee leave balances and calculates liability values.
  • Report 2: Offers a 4-year history of leave usage to support trend analysis.

Key Benefits:

  • Simplified data collection
  • Enhanced accuracy for OSPI reporting
  • User-friendly formats for quick analysis
  • PDF and Excel exports with prompts for fiscal year and tax rates

Where to Find Them:

  • Qmlativ Users: Head to Report Manager.
    • Reports are available in both Hours and Days formats to match your district’s business practices.
    • Don’t forget to assign security settings so the reports appear in the Employee module.
  • SMS Users: Download the Crystal Reports from the WSIPC HR Crystal Reports Library on SharePoint and upload them to SMS (Web Access → Human Resources → Custom Reports → CR Setup → CF → CR).
    • Note: The reports for SMS are available in the Hours format only.

A Reminder on GASB 101

Under GASB Statement No. 101, districts must estimate compensated absences liability and report it in the F-196 on the Schedule of Long-Term Liabilities. While there are multiple ways to calculate this liability, any methodology should include a historical analysis of leave practices and apply a “more likely than not” (50%+) threshold. Districts should also retain documentation of their process—including how estimates were calculated and the data used—as this will be critical for audit purposes.

Let’s keep building solutions together—one report at a time!
