NATIONAL POSTSECONDARY SUCCESS PLATFORM EXPANDS IN WASHINGTON TO SUPPORT EQUITABLE STUDENT OUTCOMES

Everett, WA — The Washington School Information Processing Cooperative (WSIPC) today announced expanded availability of FOYOST (Follow Your Student), a secure data platform that helps school districts understand and improve student outcomes after graduation.

FOYOST connects postsecondary enrollment and completion data from the National Student Clearinghouse with local student and program data to give districts a longitudinal view of student success from high school through postsecondary education. The platform helps transform postsecondary outcomes from something education systems measure after the fact into insight educators can actively use to improve programs, strengthen advising, target student support, and advance equity outcomes.

FOYOST builds on more than five years of active use and continues to expand in support of postsecondary student success initiatives in Washington State.

“The conversation around postsecondary outcomes is shifting from whether we should track them to how quickly we can use them to support students,” said Dr. Dana Anderson, CEO of WSIPC. “FOYOST gives educators a secure, actionable view of postsecondary success so they can strengthen programs, support students beyond graduation, and close equity gaps. This work builds on years of national and regional collaboration, and we’re committed to working alongside partners across the education system to ensure this data drives real improvements in student access, persistence, and completion.”

Expansion of FOYOST in Washington has been supported through capacity-building investments from the Gates Foundation to help education systems better use postsecondary outcomes data to improve student success.

FOYOST is designed to close one of education’s longest-standing blind spots: what happens to students after high school graduation. By combining national outcomes with local context, the platform gives districts, advisors, and researchers a shared view of student success for both day-to-day decision-making and advanced research, helping education systems move beyond static reporting toward operational insight that improves programs, equity, and student pathways beyond college entry.

The platform is hosted in a secure Microsoft Azure environment and uses FERPA-aligned, role-based permissions to ensure strong data governance and privacy protections.

WSIPC is working with districts, educational service districts, and statewide partners to support shared goals around postsecondary access, persistence, and completion, with a focus on maximizing existing investments, reducing duplication, and accelerating access to usable student outcome data.

Implementation is already underway. WSIPC has begun executing district data sharing agreements and is continuing to expand system security capabilities, including Single Sign-On integration. The cooperative is also working to streamline access to postsecondary outcome data to help reduce local cost and administrative burden.
