Learn About Real Jobs and Careers from Employers across Washington

Join Industry Leaders for a Series of Online Discussions — With Live Q & A’s!

Every School Day in May

Live and Online at 3:30pm

Every day at 3:30 pm, starting May 4th, students can engage in 30-45 minute live sessions hosted via Zoom and live streamed on YouTube. Students will hear about Washington-based jobs that might align with their interests and goals, and engage in employer-created challenges.

Information and recordings of previous discussions will be posted here: https://www.careerconnectathome.org/

Each week, sessions will have a different theme, and different companies will share information about their jobs and answer students’ questions.

Here’s the breakdown of each week’s theme:

  • Week 1 (May 4 – May 8): Technology and Information
  • Week 2 (May 11 – May 15): Manufacturing, Construction, Energy
  • Week 3 (May 18 – May 22): Entrepreneurship and Start-ups
  • Week 4 (May 25 – May 29): Education, Health Care, Government, Non-profits
(note: no session on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25)

Employers will receive coaching and assistance from former teachers to develop their content to ensure it is engaging and relevant for 7th-12th grade students. To ensure safety, students will access the sessions each day via a live YouTube link. Only employer hosts will have access to the audio and video stream, secured by unique login credentials for each day’s session.

High School and Beyond Planning with WSIPC

WSIPC’s High School and Beyond is an interactive planning tool. It delivers all the elements of Washington State’s required plan, including a four-year course plan based on state or district graduation requirements and post-secondary goals. High School and Beyond uses the student’s data from Skyward.

Students can create their own personalized pathway through high school, and revise their Plan annually to accommodate changing interests or goals. Counselors, parents, and guardians may review and approve student Plans, and monitor their progress towards graduation. The Plan also follows the student if they transfer to another school district using Skyward.

High School and Beyond not only helps students to plan their future, it creates a clear and concise strategy towards accomplishing their educational goals.
