How Safe is Your Data?

 
The Institute of Education Sciences (IES) is the nation’s premier source for research, evaluation, and statistics that can help educators, policymakers, and stakeholders improve outcomes for all students.

On the IES site you can find data security and governance checklists that you can use to help keep your data secure.

Security checklists are important tools designed by experts at IES’s Privacy Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) to aid education stakeholders with identifying critical items to include in the agency data governance plans and data security plans. The checklists are designed primarily for state and local educational agencies, the postsecondary community, and other parties engaged in building and using education data systems. The purpose? To aid these stakeholders in examining their existing data policies and practices against the best practices recommended for data governance, risk assessment, and other relevant areas of data security, privacy, and confidentiality.

Your Data is Safe with WSIPC

  • Data Ownership – WSIPC never discloses or shares student level data, to any party outside of state or federal entities, without the approval of the district.
      
  • Data Security – Security assessments are conducted on WSIPC systems annually, by independent companies. The results of the assessments are used to ensure that our system security is continually updated to meet the ever-growing threat of cyber security attacks.
