Food Service - A Big Hit at Wenatchee School District

Oct 30, 17

WSIPC Student Services has been providing onsite go-live support to Wenatchee School District in preparation for their Skyward Food Service Implementation for 2017-18.

“This was a big change for the Nutrition Services program that could have been rough based on past experiences with outside vendors, but with the support of WSIPC, NCESD, and the District Office, it was a great experience that allows us many more opportunities. All their help and support is very much appreciated, this was a great team to work with.” Chris Lutgen, Wenatchee SD Food Service Director.

Food Service, which is part of the Family Access module, allows guardians to view their current account balance and payment history; see what their children are eating; view application status for free and reduced meals; and, if your school offers an online payment option, load their account using a check, credit, or debit card. You can even set up automatic notifications when lunch balances are low.

From hot lunch head counts to food allergies, sometimes a few hours can make all the difference. New students are automatically available in the Food Service system, alerts are readily available to keep your students safe, and student pictures appear when students are on their way through the lunch line.

“The picture of the student is an invaluable feature that adds another level of security and personal connection.” Chris Lutgen, Wenatchee SD Food Service Director.

Skyward's partner program means you can also upgrade to new POS terminals, touch screen monitors, or programmable cash drawers without having to worry about compatibility. Speed up the line with keypads, barcode readers, and even biometric scanners that quickly identify students.

“With the new Skyward POS and use of scanners, Wenatchee School District went from serving an average of 2,675 meals per day last year to 3,200 on just the second day of school!” Chris Lutgen, Wenatchee SD Food Service Director.

Food Service is a great product that puts the power in the hands of guardians and reduces the amount of time schools spend answering questions about meal accounts and student spending. Working with NCESD and the district office staff has been a great experience, and WSIPC is confident that Food Service will have a positive impact on Wenatchee School District and its students and families.

“The conversion was seamless and the WSIPC team was fantastic and had us completely prepared for success. The planning and training ensured that everyone involved had many opportunities to prepare and feel confident and comfortable on day one.” Chris Lutgen, Wenatchee SD Food Service Director.
